To be perfectly honest, I am starting from scratch.
BUT I am also fortunate enough to have worked with sales, marketing and online advertising, so compared to a lot of self-publishers out there, I have marketing knowledge most authors don’t.
AND I am doing this as a personal project, but also to test a few theories on marketing and strategy that I can’t do when working for clients or as an employee.
That doesn’t mean I will be wildly successful, but it does mean I can make sense of my numbers – and I intend to share them with others who want to self-publish, explaining what they mean, and how I adjusted my strategy.

Most books never sell 200 copies. I have no idea how my book will do. But I do have an idea on how to calculate my costs, how to compare marketing strategies – and I want to share those thoughts as part of this project.

Because real numbers are hard to find. And with a reference, more people can figure out their own numbers – and adapt or create their own strategies and visions of success. That is why I decided to share the entire process, and aim to be real about the numbers as well.
