Main characters:  
Harrazade Kerber (Beauty) is the oldest daughter of a florist from Ranby. Fleeing home to avoid an unwanted marriage, she finds herself apprenticed to Beast as his student in the art of magic.
Beast used to be human. Then he was cursed by 'the Organization' for his role in the murder of Barr. He offers Harrazade to stay at the castle as his student. He is related to Yueh'La in some way, but as of yet Harrazade has not figured out how.
Yueh'La was (and still is) a very powerfull wizard, who got cursed as punishment for the murder of his brother, Barr. He also got banished, it seems, and is now bored to madness in a place called 'elsewhere'.

Team Beast / Yueh'La:
Runi is Harrazade's chambermaid and best friend. She also suffers a major crush on Morvan, a former friend of Beast.

Greta is the head Housekeeper at the castle, and the general 'queen bee'. Has an Opinion on Everything. Married to Broja.

Broja may be the butler, but he is also one of Beast's very few friends. Dislikes rain and cold, unless he can stay inside. Obsessive hunter/marksman. Married to Greta.

Hishan. This clueless, happy dog has plenty of love for everybody!
He loves nothing more than bellyrubs or lying on your lap.
Usually follows either Beast or Harrazade around, unless he found something interesting to play with in stead.
Team Harrazade:
Harrazade's Mother. This is a florist who doesn't scare easily, not even by the appearance of mysterious men with glowing eyeballs and tophats.
Loves her daughters deeply. Would probably never have forced Harrazade to go through with marriage if she had confessed her unwillingness to do so instead of running away.


The Trickster/Witch. Apparently she provides Harrazade's parents (and their shop) with magical assistance and protection.
She seem to know about Yueh'La and the Organization, too. Then again, most magic-handlers would.
  
Soulwells are spirits of magic. This particular one lives in a bottomless well in the woods surrounding the castle. A being of magic it seems to be affected by the curse in some way or other.
It also seem to appreciate Harrazade's company, and tries it's best to guide her on the way.

Team Organization:
No picture yet.
Morvan. So far all we know about this guy is that he is one of the three Wardens that are supposed to make sure Beast doesn't find a way to lift the curse. Beast considers him a friend, while Runi considers him a spineless bastard who abandoned both her and Beast to join the Organization's side. It has been suggested he only did this to live as long as Runi.

Hatmen/ Glowing Eyeballs Guys. These poor souls are the creations of the Organization. Originally wizards who pulled too much from the source, consumed by the force of magic, they are now soulless shells under the Organiation's control.
  

Other:

  

Skuggs. Beings that hunt and devour all magic, skuggs are not supposed to exist in this world. Apparently the curse has made it possible for them to roam the castle grounds.
A skugg is hardly ever affected by magic, but it can be killed. Swords, knives and possibly drowning seem to work fine.
They are shapestealers, assuming the form of whatever they ate last. (So far we have met rats and deers.)
In order to kill, however, they have to actually eat you. That is, they have to drink your blood or eat your flesh directly from you. So as long as you stay away from the teeth, you should do fine.

*The Soulwell seem to have 'implanted' something resembling the essence of a skugg into Harrazade. Why? That is for me to know and you to wonder. ;)

  
Barr. Yueh'La's younger brother. Killed by Yueh'La due to a fight over the estate upon their father's death.
